Community

To maintain a sustainable business growth the Company’s businesses are balanced with various CSR activities, regular or one-off. The Company has adopted a policy not to support politically motivated activity in its CSR activity. The funds allocated for CSR are channeled through partnerships and community development program (PKBL), with reference to the Regulation of the Minister of SOEs No. PER-05/MBU/2007 pertaining to SOE Partnership with Small Business Program, and Community Development Program as stipulated in Article 4 of Law No.40 of 2007 regarding LimitedLiability Company.

In 2010, the Company’s PKBL funding that was allocated from the 2009 profit include Rp 3.78 billion for Partnership Program and Rp 1.89 billion for Community Development Program.

In addition to channel its own fund, the Company also coordinates the fund channeling for Partnership Program and Community Development Program funded by other companies, amounted to Rp 11.13 billion which was channeled for Community Development in 2010.In 2010, the Company implemented 8 (eight) CSR programs: environmental conservation, clean water well, public health improvement, education and training, religious, natural disaster relief, SOE care, and partnership program.

Environmental Conservation

ConservationTo actively participate in reducing global warming and preserving the environment, WIKA planted 1,000 Mangrove trees in the vicinity of the PLTD Project Pasanggaran, Bali. Additionally, WIKA also planted 5500 trees in Cibubur Training & Education Center and in Bengawan Solo Stream Project.

Water Well

The Company has built 6 (six) units of clean water wells in the areas of Cilincing, Koja, North Jakarta and in the Bantar Gebang in cooperation with Rumah Zakat. These facilities now are used to supply clean water for bathing, washing, and toilet facilities.

Community Health Improvement

Through this program, the Company built and renovated clean water infrastructure and communal sanitation facilities; promoted nutrition through food and medicines donation; and implemented other activities related to public health services.

Education and Training

The Company organized training on arithmetic, provided mobile library, language laboratory assistance, school uniforms, stationery and scholarships for children living in the areas. Additionally, WIKA’s foremen provided woodworking training for adults.

Religious Affairs

An assistance in the form of development and improvement of worship facilities were also provided by the Company, in addition to other supporting facilities. Donation was also made in conjunction with religious holidays.

Disaster Relief

The Company provided the victims of natural disasters with aid, such as basic needs (food); clean water supply and sanitation; medicines; as well raft and refugee tents. WIKA has distributed aid to flood victims in Karawang and earthquake victims in Padang.

SOE Care

SOE Care Program is an aid program conducted in coordination with the Office of the Ministry of SOEs.SOEs Care had extended disaster relief, such as basic food for flood victims in Wasior, Papua; basic food for victims of the eruption of Mount Merapi in Yogyakarta and its surroundings; tools aid for house construction for victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Mentawai, West Sumatra; as well as channeling 1,500 food package at lower price in Medan, Pekanbaru, Jakarta, Bandung, and Surabaya.

Partnership Program

The Company conducted partnership program through providing financial aid for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), which include cooperatives that have met the specified requirements. The Partnership Program was aimed to enhance the capabilities and productivity of Small Medium Enterprises, so that they can grow as independent and resilient businesses.

Besides financial assistance, trainings were also given in addition to facilitating their product marketing through Small Enterprises exhibitions (both related and unrelated to WIKA) The Partnership Program was extended to business groups in services and trade sectors in the area of DKI Jakarta, Banten, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta and East Java. The Company also provided grant assistance for product exhibitions in Jakarta and handyman skills training.

In addition to independent PKBL activities as described above, the Company in cooperation with PT Pertamina (Persero) and PT Gas Negara (Persero) Tbk donated uniforms and school supplies to 15 Elementary Schools attended by 3,361 students in Muaragembong, Bekasi, West Java. Moreover, the Company was also entrusted by PT Gas Negara (Persero) Tbk to coordinate and finalize the projects of clean water facility and environmentally-friendly public sanitary facility in Muara Bekasi, Karawang, West Java, Bojonegara, Belawan, and Pagar Dewa with total project value of Rp 2,62 billlion, as well as the realization of 46 school renovations in Muara Bekasi, Karawang, Bojonegara, and Lampung with total project value of Rp 19,65 billion.
