From the current targeted new contract, wika still rely on the contract from government’s project. This is the evidence that wika have important role in the development of national infrastructure.
In the decision of PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk. Shareholders General Meeting (AGM) on the last April 23rd, the changed in the commissioners and directors composition was legitimated. Especially for the board of directors, there was one additional new director appointed. According to Director of PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk, or WIKA, Bintang Perbowo, one additional rank on the board was The Ministry of SOE’s decision, because there were many infrastructure assignments that in line with Cita Nawa program, so the company required additional directors to do the job.
As a Construction SOE, this year WIKA is quite busy. For new contracts, WIKA is targeting Rp 54.32 trillion this year, an increase of approximately 31.6% from the new contract target in 2014. WIKA still rely on the Government’s project to pursuit a new contract. The composition, the new contract is expected 52% from the Government’s projects, 22% from the state-owned companies projects, and the remaining approximately 26% from private sector projects.
Entering the first quarter of 2015, until the third week of April, the state-owned construction company has recorded a new contract worth Rp 4.43 trillion. That means WIKA has realized its new contract target of 13.99% considering this year’s target of Rp 31.64 trillion.
Suradi, WIKA Corporate Secretary said that the brand-new contract obtained from Aceh Kreuretok Dam project amounting to Rp 403 billion, Phase I Ciawi-Bogor-Sukabumi (Bocimi) toll road project amounting to Rp 351 billion, and East Timor Oecusse Airport project worth USS 92 million. In addition, another project that contributes to the company's brand-new contract is Funtasy Island project in Manis Island, Batam Rp 161 billion and New Samarinda Airport Runway development project in Samarinda worth Rp 124.20 billion.
Meanwhile, WIKA Vice Director, Budi Harto explained that the company will pursuit more multiyear projects this year. The fact, single year project is difficult to pursue because in April, tender from the Government is still lack.
Related to Government’s projects, WIKA also want to take part in the construction of 35 thousand MW power plants that become a commitment of President Joko Widodo. This year, the company plans to involve in power plant project with a capacity of 2x600 megawatts (MW) that is estimated to be worth USS 1.4 to 1.8 billion in Palembang, South Sumatra. Mitsubishi Corporation mentioned will be one of WIKA’s partners in this project.
According to Suradi, the company is eyeing 5-10% ownership in the power plant. It is estimated that the investment for 1 MW will around US $ 1.2 - 1.5 million.
Basically in the provision of electricity, WIKA will actively assist the Government’s program. Until now, WIKA owned investment in the field of power plants amounting to 200 MW.
