PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (IDX code: WIKA) achieved “Project of the Year” in the field of project management for the project of PT Petrokimia Gresik Rehabilitation and Flexibility Operation for Phosphate Plant II (PF II RFO) in Construction / Engineering category with a value below USD 100,000,000. This award was given by the Deputy Minister of Public Works Hermanto Dardak in the event IAMPI Project Management Award 2011, at Hotel Borobudur, Jakarta (14/12).

The RFO PF II project which had completed since 15 November 2009 was judged to have the advantage in the systematic of project management through the implementation of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), able to overcome the challenges with satisfactory results and can provide learning (lesson learn) for improvement WIKA’s project forward.
In the RFO project PF II, WIKA is required to complete the project with a contract that is a lump sum fixed price for modification and rehabilitation of existing plants in operation. WIKA’s contract included Detail Engineering, Procurement, and Construction for 360 calendar days (15 September 2008-15 September 2009) with maintenance work for one year. To meet the target completion of the project, the Project Team of WIKA performs fast tracking to speed up the process of engineering so that the procurement process can begin.

The biggest challenge was to carry out erection and installation of all equipment that can only be done within the last 3 months (minimum shut down plan on existing plants), it encouraged WIKA to make other strategies, so a lot of construction work items that can be done outside when shut down with anticipation and the addition of safety equipment. Other challenges that concern the jury were WIKA project team’s ability to anticipate delays in equipment with Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) to direct manufacturing as well as make efforts to avoid efficiency losses due to foreign exchange.

WIKA RFO PF II project won this project with a value of 129.5 billion to modify the plant into producing NPK fertilizer to be fertilizer factories which can produce phosphate SP36 fertilizer and NPK compound fertilizer. With the scope of work covers detail engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, testing and commissioning and performance test.

With the modifications made, RFO Factory PF II now has a production capacity of 5108 ton / day plant exceeds the target of a minimum capacity of 4800 tons / day. So based on customer satisfaction survey conducted WIKA to PT Petrokimia Gresik as the owner, acquired the satisfaction of performance and results that achieved WIKA. Even for the implementation of Health Safety & Environment (HSE), owner gave “a very satisfied appreciation” for the implementation of WIKA HSE.
