WIKA carried out the biggest weir in South Kalimantan
Currently in Malutu Village, Hulu Sungai Selatan Subdistric, South Kalimantan, Amandit irigation system at Amandit River of which the budget earned from JBIC Loan No. IP-505 is being developed. The contract of Amandit irigation system development signed on May 31, 2005 between the Ministry of Public Works of the Republic of Indonesia and Joint Operation of PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) and Mirai (Japan Contractor) where the due date is 910 days.
Amandit irigation development utilized as an irigation system in Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency intended to water 40,000 hectare plough-land and its surroundings, both in rainy and dry season.
Weir development is not merely supposed to be a water resource but also new income for local government since that area is going to be a tourism area. Besides elevating the river system, the weir and surrounding areas is supposed to be an interesting tourism area especially for Hulu Sungai Selatan community and South Kalimantan people as a whole.
Project Manager of PT Wijaya Karya (Persero), Agung Budi Waskito explained, as a whole that Amandit irigation development divided into two parts namely weir development or irigation, and its system in form of primary and secondary canal. Weir or irigation in Malutu Village, Hulu Sungai Selatan Subdistric with technical specification of 8 meter height, 57 meters width and concrete type of irrigation. Meanwhile, irrigation system development is in form of primary and socndary canal with lining concrete along 28 km for primary line and 120 km for secondary line.
In related to on site activity, the Company was about to complete clearing and grubbing since the completion project for the new weir is going to start on March 2006. He said with an expected completion on the midst of 2007, 8 meters weir or irigation can be utilized in line with primary and secondary line completion on January 2008
