WIKA and Chengda Corp of China Builds Power Plant in South Kalimantan, in amount of IDR 1, 4 Trillion.
Banjarmasin, July 4th, 2008- Consortium between PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk and Chengda Engineering Corporation of China had signed contract of EPC project to construct South Kalimantan power plant (PLTU) 2 X 65 MW with investment value of IDR 1,4 trillion. The project will be completed on April 2010.
The signing was carried out by President Director of WIKA Bintang Perbowo, managements of Chengda and President Director of PLN Fahmi Mochtar. The signing was witnessed by President of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Governor of East Kalimantan also.
The province of South Kalimantan has land 3, 7 ha and total of residences are almost 4 million people, in every day this province needs electricity capacity in amount 260, 95 MW which is distributed by two units of PLTU Asam-asam whose capacity is 126 MW, 3 unit turbines of PLTA Riam Kanan 28, 50 MW and 29 units of PLTD whose capacity is 86, 45 MW. The electricity distribution is not stable if one of the power plants has problem.
“By this project, its hoped can help electricity distribution problem in South and Central Kalimantan. It is our commitment to support government program and to become big company in energy sector,” Bintang Perbowo said.
WIKA has already obtained more than 30 % from 1st phase project total of power plant 10.000 MW which was declared by government on June. WIKA had carried out ground breaking of North Sulawesi power plant 2 x 25 MW which completed on January 2010. The other WIKA power plant projects are;
1. PLTU Banten 2 – Labuan 2X300 MW in amount of IDR 801,97 billion
2. PLTGU Muara Karang 2X240MW & 2X100 MW in amount of IDR 241,29 billion
3. PLTU Indramayu 3X330MW in amount of IDR 154 billion
4. PLTU Labuhan Angin 2 X 115MW in amount of IDR 75,94 billion
5. PLTU Celukan Bawang, Bali 3X142MW in amount of IDR 5,24 billion
6. PLTGU Tanjung Priok 2X350 MW in amount of IDR 400 billion
7. PLTGU Pelabuhan Ratu 3X300MW in amount of IDR 254 billion
According to Bintang Perbowo, infrastructure project especially in electricity energy sector has good prospect, dynamic, keep growing up and being pioneer in economic activities. By its credibility, WIKA has been trusted fully to support government infrastructure programs. The project is also important for our company performance.
“As public company, our shareholders ask me to keep growing up and showing the best performance. We have proved it by strong financial performance at last years. In power plant sector at this year, WIKA still has opportunity of additional new contract from on going tender and the next tender in amount IDR 3, 7 trillion,” Bintang said.
The location of South Kalimantan Power plant is in Asam-asam Vilage, Jorong Sub-ditrict, Tanah Laut Regency and South Kalimantan Province. The project is development of the previous existing project and will be part of electricity system in South Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan.
