An Indonesian citizen, born in Surakarta on April 5, 1974, Hananto Aji earned a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree from Sebelas Maret University in Surakarta in 1997. After graduating, he immediately joined PT WIJAYA KARYA (Persero) Tbk. (WIKA). Over more than two decades at WIKA, Hananto Aji has held various strategic positions, from staff to project manager. He is known for his expertise in port construction, as evidenced by his leadership in projects such as the Sampit Port in Central Kalimantan, the Container Port of Banjarmasin in South Kalimantan, and the Lamong Bay Port in East Java.

In 2017, Hananto Aji was appointed as Manager of Division 5 DSU 3 and later served as General Manager of the Business Synergy Department in 2019. Based on the 2019 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders (AGMS), he was appointed as WIKA's Operations Director I and officially confirmed at the AGMS on June 8, 2020. After undertaking various strategic assignments, Hananto Aji was once again appointed as Director of Operations through the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGMS) of WIKA on August 6, 2025.
