Jakarta - The Ciliwung Sodetan Project to the East Flood Canal (KBT), which is carried out by PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) together with PT Jaya Konstruksi, is almost complete. Sodetan work has now entered the final stage and is targeted to operate in August 2023.
This project owned by the Ministry of PUPR was implemented in 2021 with the scope of work of a double pipe tunnel from the Inlet (upstream of Sodetan) to the 590m Arriving Shaft, Permanent Inlet Building connecting the Ciliwung River with the Sodetan pipe, and normalisation of the Cipinang River to the East Flood Canal (KBT).
Agung Budi Waskito (BW), President Director of WIKA said that the Ciliwung River Sodetan project to the East Flood Canal (KBT) is part of the PUPR Ministry's master plan to integrate the flood control system from upstream to downstream in DKI Jakarta. With this Sodetan double tunnel, part of the Ciliwung River flood discharge can be diverted to the East Flood Canal (KBT) through the Cipinang River by gravity of 60 m3 / second so as to minimise the area affected by flooding in DKI Jakarta.
The construction of this double tunnel uses two Earth Pressure Balance machines (EPBM), namely Parang Partiwi (Partiwi) which means "Satria Bumi" with an outer diameter of 4.07m and Kawung Utalika (Kawulika) which means "Waves of Justice" with an outer diameter of 4.115m. The drilling machine works with a mechanism system that balances the pressure of soil and groundwater with the pressure of excavated mud in the machine chamber, so that the pipe can be jacked forward following the drilling process of the drilling machine. The Sodetan double tunnel has an inner diameter of 3.5m and an outer diameter of 4.05m. The average tunnel depth is 12 to 16m from ground level to pipe top and the total length is 1,161m from Inlet to Outlet.
The use of EPBM technology in the Ciliwung River Sodetan construction process and the successful application of complex work methods accompanied by the ability to operate this construction technology led WIKA to a new achievement by winning two MURI Records at once, namely: Installation of the Largest Diameter Pipe by Jacking Method and Installation of Jacking Method Pipe with the Longest Distance between Shafts.
The contribution made by WIKA through the construction of the Ciliwung River Sodetan is not only to support government programmes, but also to lift the community's economy through the absorption of nearly 500 workers, and support MSME activists through the use of construction support materials obtained through PADI UMKM.
WIKA also gives the final touch to the Ciliwung River Sodetan project by building a green open space in the Sodetan Inlet area with the name "Inlet Park". In addition to public facilities such as: children's playground, outdoor gym, fountain plaza, cafeteria, creation stage and public toilet; in this park there is also a Flood Control Centre owned by the Ministry of PUPR. This Inlet Park will soon be opened to the public and can be utilised by the surrounding community, so that the Ciliwung River Sodetan Project to the East Flood Canal, in accordance with its vision, will become a legacy for the lives of the surrounding community.
