Post-disaster recovery efforts in Aceh Tamiang Regency have entered an important phase with the handover of 600 Danantara Housing Units (HUNTARA) to the Aceh Tamiang Regency Government. PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) supported the handover as part of the company's commitment to supporting national disaster reconstruction and recovery programs.
The construction of HUNTARA Aceh Tamiang is the result of a collaboration between Danantara Indonesia and state-owned enterprises. Of the total planned 600 housing units, WIKA contributed to the construction of 80 units, which were built in accordance with standards for temporary housing that is safe, livable, and functional for communities affected by disasters.
WIKA President Director Agung Budi Waskito emphasized that WIKA's support in the construction and handover of HUNTARA is a manifestation of the company's social responsibility as a state-owned enterprise. "For WIKA, the construction of HUNTARA is not just about providing physical buildings, but also providing a safe space for families to recover after a disaster. We are committed to ensuring that every residence is built with good quality, safety, and readiness for occupancy, so that the community can undergo the recovery period with greater dignity," said Agung BW.
The Danantara Housing Units are designed to support the basic needs of the community during the post-disaster transition period. In addition to housing units, the HUNTARA area is also equipped with supporting facilities such as free electricity, free Wi-Fi access, and communal toilets, to create a healthier, more organized, and dignified living environment.
The existence of Huntara provides direct benefits to affected communities by providing safe and decent temporary shelter, allowing residents to resume their daily activities more normally. This housing also contributes to accelerating social recovery in the community, strengthening community interaction, and supporting the recovery of infrastructure and economic life after a disaster.
Through its support for the handover of Huntara in Aceh Tamiang, WIKA reaffirms its role as a strategic partner of the government in disaster management and the recovery of affected areas. WIKA believes that temporary housing that is built quickly and to a high standard can serve as a foundation for communities to recover and rebuild their lives in a sustainable manner.
