President Joko Widodo inaugurated the Pamukkulu Dam, located in Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi Province, on Friday (5/7). This inauguration marks the completion of another National Strategic Project portfolio by PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) with the highest quality and always meeting the client’s targets.
In his speech, President Joko Widodo stated that the Pamukkulu Dam will eventually store and manage water to support agricultural productivity.
"This is a large dam, with a water capacity of 82 million cubic meters and an inundation area of 460 hectares. We want to manage our water, not just let it flow into the river and then into the sea, but to utilize it to meet raw water needs, generate electricity, reduce flooding, and irrigate rice fields in Takalar Regency," said President Jokowi.
The construction of the Pamukkulu Dam itself was divided into two work packages. WIKA-DMT KSO was appointed by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing as the contractor for package I, with the main scope of work including the construction of the main dam body, installation of instrumentation, drilling, and grouting.
WIKA’s President Director, Agung Budi Waskito (BW), stated that the inauguration of the Pamukkulu Dam reflects the company's commitment to continuously promoting the completion of National Strategic Projects entrusted to the company.
"This is evidence of WIKA’s capacity as a leading contractor in dam construction in the country. This moment also motivates us to continue driving production activities on other projects so they can be completed with the best quality and provide benefits to the community,” said Agung BW.
