The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), officially inaugurated the National Palace at the new capital, Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN), on Friday, October 11, 2024. The National Palace was constructed by the PP-WIKA Consortium (WIKA KSO). The inauguration was marked by the pressing of a siren button and the signing of a plaque.
"With the blessings of Bismillahirrahmanirrahim, I hereby inaugurate the National Palace at Ibu Kota Nusantara," declared President Jokowi.
The ceremony also included the handover of the National Palace certificate from the Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, to the Minister of State Secretary, Pratikno.
Located in the Central Government Core Area (KIPP) of IKN, in Penajam Paser Utara Regency, the National Palace spans a total area of 334,200 square meters. It is designed as a grand presidential complex that will serve as the center of government, the official residence of the President, and the venue for state ceremonies at IKN.
During its construction, WIKA implemented Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology to optimize project planning, execution, and management. WIKA’s scope of work included building construction, architectural design, and the development of the ceremonial grounds.
"WIKA is proud to have successfully completed the construction of the National Palace at IKN with the highest quality and on time. This project is a testament to the capability of Indonesia’s own talent in realizing large-scale vital infrastructure projects," stated WIKA President Director, Agung Budi Waskito.
Among the attendees accompanying President Jokowi were First Lady Iriana Jokowi, Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Ahmad Muzani, members of the Indonesian Onward Cabinet, Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces General Agus Subiyanto, Chief of the National Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Acting Governor of East Kalimantan Akmal Malik, members of the East Kalimantan Regional Leadership Coordination Forum, PTPP President Director Novel Arsyad, and WIKA President Director Agung Budi Waskito.
