PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) continues to support infrastructure development that supports connectivity between regions in Indonesia, one of which is through the Probolinggo-Banyuwangi (Probowangi) Toll Road Package 3 project which is currently being worked on by the Company. With progress that has reached 74.9%, this project is targeted for completion in 2025.
The Probowangi Toll Road was built to increase access between the Probolinggo and Banyuwangi regions, which so far only have arterial access. With the construction of this toll road infrastructure, it is expected to reduce congestion on arterial routes, reduce logistics costs, and increase the economic competitiveness of Probolinggo, Banyuwangi and surrounding areas. Through the Probowangi Toll Road, travel time is expected to be reduced by around 30-50%, thereby optimizing fuel consumption. Overall, the Probowangi Toll Road is also projected to reduce logistics costs by 10-20%.
In the construction of this project, WIKA implements the latest technology, including the application of Building Information Modeling (BIM) for planning and design efficiency. WIKA also applies geotechnical technology through the use of drones and 3D mapping for more accurate land surveys. In addition, the Company also collaborates with local governments and local communities to support regional economic growth through empowering local labor and local subcontractors.
As a form of superior ESG implementation, the Company also pays attention to social and environmental impacts in its development process. This is done through the Social Responsibility Program (TJSL), where WIKA is involved in assisting the construction of village facilities, tree planting, and flood prevention for the area around the project.
