PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) continues to encourage the realization of national energy self-sufficiency through accelerating the development of the National Strategic Project (PSN), namely the Tuban Refrigerated LPG Terminal in East Java. Until now, the project, which is owned by PT Pertamina Energy Terminal, has reached a construction progress of 44.4% with a completion target in semester 2 2026.
The project is expected to increase the national LPG supply by 40% to the areas of East Java, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Kalimantan and Sulawesi. The project is also expected to become the backbone of energy stability in Eastern Indonesia.
In its implementation, construction work is carried out onshore and offshore. One of the onshore jobs that WIKA is working on is the installation of a pipe rack, where WIKA uses modular innovation to speed up and simplify the installation of the pipe rack.
The process of implementing module innovation begins with assembling a series of steel structures and pipes arranged in the fabrication area. The module is then lifted and placed in a predetermined position. This method is in line with the Company's lean construction initiative, because the manufacture of this module can be done without having to wait for the building structure to be completed, thus speeding up the implementation process.
In addition to contributing to energy security, the project also has great social benefits as it is able to open local jobs and improve the skills of the workforce in the surrounding area. In addition, this project also encourages regional economic growth by involving local MSMEs.
WIKA President Director, Agung Budi Waskito (BW), stated that this project is a strategic project for Indonesia's energy future. “This project is important and strategic to realize energy independence and community welfare, especially to increase energy self-sufficiency in Eastern Indonesia,” he said.
WIKA is optimistic that this project will become one of the important milestones in strengthening the national energy system, while strengthening the Company's position as a champion contractor in the development of EPCC projects in Indonesia.
