PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) has garnered appreciation for the construction of the Multi Sport Complex in Solomon Islands, Pacific Islands, with an area of 5,800m2, which will soon be used as the main venue for the 2023 Pacific Games sports competition in November.
The appreciation was conveyed by the employer, the National Hosting Authority Representative of the Solomon Island Government and the organizer of the 2023 Pacific Games through the Chairman of the National Hosting Authority (NHA) Dr. Jimmie Rodgers and the NHA Executive Director Christian Nieng.
"Thanks to the support and high commitment of WIKA Indonesia in completing the construction of this stadium in accordance with quality and targets, the preparations for the 2023 Pacific Games can run smoothly according to plan," said Rodgers.
In line with this, WIKA President Director Agung Budi Waskito (BW) said that this appreciation is inseparable from the success of the project construction which is faster than the specified time, accompanied by the high quality standards of the building that is resistant to natural and weather conditions in the Pacific Islands.
The construction of the Multi Sport Complex project or what is known as the Friendship Hall also became a symbol of the strong friendship between the Indonesian Government and the Solomon Islands Government that has been established for a long time.
WIKA's Cipanas Dam Project Nearing Completion
In addition to proving its achievements abroad, WIKA's good performance is also reflected in the construction of the Cipanas Dam project in Sumedang Regency, West Java, which is one of the National Strategic Projects (PSN).
The Cipanas Dam is built with a capacity of 250.81 million cubic meters of water to meet the irrigation needs of an area of approximately 9,273 Ha in the Sumedang and Indramayu areas, as well as a flood control in the downstream area of the North Coast of Indramayu, also for a mini hydropower plant of 3MW.
WIKA together with PT Jaya Konstruksi (JAKON) as the implementing contractor for Package III, has a scope of work including the Dam Body, Dam Peak, and Hydromechanical. By the end of July, the project progress has reached 98.76% and is expected to be completed in September 2023.
"This achievement further strengthens WIKA's capabilities as one of the contractors that has completed the most dam projects throughout Indonesia," said Agung BW.
Trusted to work on 48 dams in Indonesia, in addition to the Cipanas Dam, WIKA is currently also working on a number of other dam projects for the next few years, including the Manikin Dam in NTT, the Jenelata Dam in South Sulawesi, the Lau Simeme Dam in North Sumatra, and the Tiga Dihaji Dam in South Sumatra.
This is a form of WIKA's support for the government's mission through the Ministry of PUPR to increase the number of dams in Indonesia which will increase the water supply, increase the planting frequency so as to increase land productivity which ultimately improves the welfare of farmers and food security.
