Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), visited the construction sites of public schools in Singkawang City and Pontianak City, which are being built by PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA). The visit was conducted to directly observe the progress of the construction of educational facilities that are expected to expand access to quality education for the community.
During the visit, AHY emphasized that educational development should not only focus on strengthening intellectual abilities, but also on shaping the character of the younger generation.
“Building good and quality education should not only focus on intellectual development, but also on character building. The People's School is expected to break the chain of poverty while preparing an excellent generation for the nation,” said AHY.
The People's School Program is expected to be one of the solutions to expand access to education for the community, especially those in need. Through quality and character-based education, this program is expected to open up wider opportunities for Indonesian children to achieve a better future.
The President Director of PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA), Agung Budi Waskito (BW), said that WIKA fully supports the government's efforts to provide quality educational infrastructure that has a direct impact on the community.
“WIKA is committed to supporting infrastructure development that is not only structurally sound but also provides broad social benefits, including supporting the provision of educational facilities such as the People's School, which is expected to improve the quality of Indonesia's human resources,” said Agung Budi Waskito (BW).
The construction of these public schools is also in line with the government's Asta Cita program, particularly in strengthening human resource development and improving the quality of national education as the foundation for a developed and competitive Indonesia.
This visit provided an opportunity to ensure that the construction of public schools in Singkawang and Pontianak is proceeding according to plan, so that they can soon be used to support improvements in the quality of education and expand access to learning for the community.
