PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) has proven its commitment to continuing to strengthen ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) in its business practices. This is in line with the belief expressed by Agung Budi Waskito as President Director of WIKA, that in order to run a sustainable business, WIKA needs to focus on the environmental, social and good corporate governance aspects, so that these three aspects will become a strong foundation for the Company's long-term business sustainability.
"WIKA must be a pioneer and leader in implementing ESG in the construction industry. With the most advanced ESG implementation, WIKA will be able to maintain trust and gain stakeholder support for every step taken," said Agung BW
The implementation of ESG at WIKA has been realized through programs based on Environmental, including the implementation of green initiatives, namely project management based on green construction and the development of renewable energy-based products, programs based on Social through Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility programs, and programs based on Governance such as strengthening corporate governance and risk management using the Three Lines Model and Four Eyes Principle.
To ensure that every step and program that has been planned is carried out, the Company specifically formed an ESG work unit in 2023. This unit was formed with the main function and task of formulating a roadmap and overseeing the implementation of WIKA's ESG program. Furthermore, the Company also involved Prof. Rhenald Kasali as Chairman of ESG Indonesia to provide insight and encourage the improvement of ESG implementation throughout the Company's operational areas.
"What you have done will be a pillar for the future. Everything will lead to that. Hopefully WIKA will have the confidence because ESG is an important support," said Rhenald Kasali to WIKA management in the ESG Discussion held by the Company.
