PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) completed the construction of the East Side National Axis Road in IKN. This infrastructure plays an important role as the main route connecting the State Palace with the national road network and a number of strategic government buildings at the center of IKN. This road was completed in April 2025 and is now entering the maintenance phase after all construction work was completed thoroughly.
Stretching for 3.27 kilometers, the East Side National Axis Road is the main connecting route between the State Palace, the national road, and a number of government offices in the IKN Government Center Core Area (KIPP). This road has an important role in supporting smooth mobility and connectivity between government facilities, in addition to its strategic function, this project also reflects WIKA's commitment to the application of modern construction technology, time efficiency, and the involvement of local communities.
In the implementation of paving work, WIKA uses Machine Mounted GPS (MMGPS) technology to improve precision and accuracy at every stage of the track. This technology ensures precision work in accordance with the design and minimizes potential deviations. This project also utilizes Intelligent Compactor, a digital sensor-based soil compactor that allows the compaction process to take place more evenly, quickly, and according to quality targets.
The design of the Green Open Space (RTH) on the left and right sides of the East Side of Jalan Sumbu Kebangsaan uses reinforced concrete that serves to hold the tree roots so that they do not damage the pavement. In addition to maintaining the durability of the infrastructure, the area is also planted with shrubs and trees to create a beautiful and functional green landscape.
Not only focusing on construction, this project also has a socio-economic impact on the surrounding community. As much as 40% of the project's workforce comes from the local community, which encourages knowledge transfer. MSMEs around IKN are also empowered through collaboration in providing goods and services so as to strengthen the local economy as development progresses.
WIKA President Director, Agung Budi Waskito (BW), said that this project not only presents a road in a physical sense, but also opens access to modern governance transformation. “The company believes that infrastructure built with precision, technology, and collaboration will be a strong foundation for the future of IKN,” he said.
The construction of the East Side National Axis Road marks the real contribution of SOEs in national infrastructure development. With high quality standards and a sustainable approach, this project is proof of the synergy between the government, contractors, and the community in realizing IKN as a modern, smart, and global-class world city.
