PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) has once again been entrusted by the Government to carry out three national strategic projects in the water resources sector, namely the Project for the Improvement and Rehabilitation of the Main Irrigation Network under Regional Authority at the Sumatra VI River Basin Agency (BBWS) (Jambi Province), Serayu Opak (Special Region of Yogyakarta Province), and BBWS Sumatra II (North Sumatra Province).
These three projects are part of the 2025 Phase III Presidential Instruction (Inpres), which aims to accelerate the rehabilitation of irrigation networks in various regions of Indonesia in order to strengthen national food security. The total contract value won by WIKA for these projects reached IDR 199.95 billion.
The scope of WIKA's work in Jambi Province includes the rehabilitation of channels and embankments, the construction of water control gates, and the normalization of rivers spread across six districts/cities of Batanghari, Bungo, Tebo, Tanjung Jabung Barat, Kerinci, and Sungai Penuh City.
Meanwhile, the scope of work in the Special Region of Yogyakarta and Central Java includes the construction and rehabilitation of irrigation channels, water gates, and inspection roads, which are targeted for completion by the end of December 2025. Spread across 7 districts and 30 irrigation areas
Additionally, the project in North Sumatra Province (Package 1) is being implemented across 9 districts and 37 irrigation areas, with the scope of work including the rehabilitation of primary and secondary channels, stone masonry, and water level control structures.
Through these three projects, WIKA plays a role in improving and restoring the function of irrigation networks so that water distribution to agricultural land becomes more optimal, supporting agricultural productivity, and maintaining continuity of food production throughout the year.
“As a government partner, WIKA is committed to providing reliable, efficient, and sustainable water infrastructure to support agricultural productivity in the region,” said WIKA President Director Agung Budi Waskito (BW).
Furthermore, WIKA is currently working on various other irrigation projects in a number of regions in Indonesia as part of the Government's program to support national food security, including in South Sulawesi, East Kalimantan, and West Nusa Tenggara. This participation further emphasizes WIKA's role as a key partner in the Government's development efforts to achieve the Asta Cita.
