PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) officially started the construction of the Rediversion of Muara Wahau Road Diversion (RE-MWRD) Project in East Kalimantan which was marked by the groundbreaking process on Friday (26/7).
The groundbreaking was attended by Mr Poniso Suryo as Assistant 1 for Government and People's Welfare of East Kutai Regency, Mr Darwanto as Head of the PUPR State Property Management Bureau, Mrs Siti Sumilah Rita as Secretary of the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal, Mr Afwan Fauzi as Head of the Subdirectorate of the Directorate General of State Assets, Mr Hendro Ichwanto as Chief Operating Officer of KPC, Mr Ngatemin as General Manager of WIKA and Mr Widodotomo as Director of Hanata.
The RE-MWRD project is part of an effort to improve infrastructure in the East Kalimantan region, especially in supporting transport activities, strengthening connectivity and distribution in the Muara Wahau area. As for the work, WIKA is trusted as the main contractor with the scope of work including, preparatory work, earthwork, structural & drainage work, and pavement work.
WIKA's President Director, Agung Budi Waskito (BW), said that the RE-MWRD project will divert the Simpang Perdau - Batu Ampar National Road Section back to its original corridor by building an 18.9 km permanent replacement road.
"With the commencement of the construction of the RE-MWRD project, it is hoped that this project can be completed on quality and on time in accordance with the cooperation plan and of course have a positive impact on infrastructure and increase ease of mobility in the East Kalimantan region," said Agung BW.
