PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) again shows its commitment in supporting national food security through agricultural infrastructure development. This time, WIKA is trusted to work on two strategic projects for irrigation network rehabilitation in Jambi and North Kalimantan Provinces as part of the Ministry of Agriculture's Land Optimization Program (OPLAH).
These two projects are a follow-up to Presidential Instruction Number 2 of 2025 and Decree of the Minister of Public Works Number 444 / KPTS / M / 2025 which regulates the acceleration of the implementation of irrigation rehabilitation in the regional government authority area.
In Jambi Province, WIKA is trusted to work on the rehabilitation of irrigation networks covering an area of ± 13,867 hectares, with the scope of work including excavation of land along 190 kilometers and repair of 44 irrigation building units. The target work implementation is 110 calendar days, with supervision from the Sumatra VI River Basin Center.
While in North Kalimantan Province, WIKA carries out rehabilitation of irrigation networks covering an area of ± 1,886 hectares. The work includes channel normalization, rehabilitation of floodgates, and repair of stone masonry channels. This project began in June 2025 with supervision from the Kalimantan V River Basin.
The presence of more reliable irrigation infrastructure in these two areas is expected to strengthen the irrigation system, support sustainable agriculture, and improve the welfare of farmers. By increasing the capacity of the agricultural sector in these two regions, it is hoped that it will support national food security for the community in the future.
WIKA President Director, Agung Budi Waskito (BW), said that this project reflects confidence in WIKA's capabilities in providing solutions in the field of agricultural infrastructure. "As a strategic partner of the Government in developing Indonesia, we are committed to running the project optimally by upholding quality, work safety, and timeliness. In addition, this project is a form of WIKA's active participation in supporting food security through sustainable irrigation development," said Agung BW.
Through these two projects, WIKA not only strengthens its contribution in the agricultural infrastructure sector, but also presents a real impact in increasing the availability of water for agricultural land, reducing the risk of crop failure, and improving the welfare of farmers in North Kalimantan and Jambi.
