PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) continues to carry out project development in Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN). Currently, the total contract obtained by the WIKA Group in IKN reaches IDR 3.48 T. Among the series of projects, WIKA is trusted as the Implementing Contractor in the construction of the IKN Toll Road Segment KKT Kariangau - SP. Tempadung and East Side Nationality Axis Road. Both of these projects were built in order to support connectivity in the National Capital.
The construction of toll road segment 3B KKT Kariangau - SP. Tempadung stretches along 7.3KM connecting Balikpapan City - Penajam Paser Utara Regency. This toll road is part of the Toll Road Network Supporting IKN in East Kalimantan Province which is expected to cut travel time from Balikpapan to the IKN core area which was previously around 2 hours to 30 minutes.
In its construction, WIKA, which is a member of the KSO with PP-JAKON with a total of more than 400 workers, has worked on the project to reach 24% progress. Not only that, WIKA also targets the paving phase to be carried out in the 4th quarter of this year. Meanwhile, significant progress is also reflected in the East Side National Axis Road project which has reached 31%. This project stretches along 3.27KM in the Government Centre Core Area (KIPP) of IKN Nusantara.
The project undertaken by WIKA-BBP-SPT KSO has a total workforce of more than 500 workers. Not only that, the East Axis road project will also be accompanied by a Multi-Utility Tunnel (MUT) to accommodate all water pipelines to optical fibre and power cables in IKN. The presence of the MUT aims to prevent the installation of cable networks from being carried out above ground level as well as facilitate the maintenance of the installed networks.
The Development Implements the Environmental Concept
In line with the IKN development concept, namely the forest city and smart city, WIKA President Director, Agung Budi Waskito (BW) said that WIKA will continue to prioritise environmental aspects in the development of projects in IKN.
"WIKA strives to minimise the environmental impact that could potentially arise from project development and is ready to support the Ministry of PUPR in the reforestation programme along the project site," said Agung BW.
One of WIKA's efforts towards environmental conservation is realised by carrying out reforestation and providing a nursery area in the KKT Kariangau - Simpang Tempadung Toll Road project for trees to be planted in IKN. WIKA also collaborates with local waste banks to manage the waste generated in the East Side National Axis Road project. With this collaboration, cement mixer wash waste will be channelled into residual biopores to be reused for access road pavement to the project.
In addition, the waste is also separated based on its category to be processed. After 8 weeks, the compost formed from the biopore holes is harvested and applied to the vegetation around the project site.
"We certainly hope that the construction will progress well so that it can be completed soon and can support the sustainability of the IKN development," said Agung BW
