PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) continues to accelerate the development of national strategic infrastructure through the Serang–Panimbang Toll Road. This toll road plays a crucial role in improving regional connectivity and driving economic growth and tourism in Banten Province.
The Serang–Panimbang Toll Road project consists of three sections. Section 1 of the Serang-Rangkasbitung section has been operational since 2021. Meanwhile, Section 2 of the Rangkasbitung-Cileles section has reached 96.78% progress and is targeted to be functionally operational during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming period, with commercial operations scheduled for October 2026. Section 3 of the Cileles-Panimbang section, divided into Packages 3A and 3B, has reached 99.78% and 58.95% progress, respectively, with completion targeted for the second semester of 2027.
The Serang-Panimbang Toll Road is expected to improve connectivity between urban areas, industrial areas, and leading tourist destinations in Banten, particularly coastal areas. This toll road will also facilitate public mobility and logistics distribution, thus encouraging the growth of new economic centers. Based on the results of a 2017 Feasibility Study by the Ministry of Public Works, this project is projected to contribute 1–1.5% to Banten Province's economic growth.
The construction of the Serang-Panimbang Toll Road aligns with Asta Cita (Government Goal 6), which aims to achieve economic equality and equitable development throughout Indonesia by improving interregional connectivity, opening access to economic and tourism areas, and strengthening inclusive regional economic growth.
In its implementation, WIKA has completed various major projects, including the construction of main roads, supporting structures such as bridges and drainage systems, as well as earthworks and pavements, all of which were carried out in accordance with technical standards. All work was strictly controlled in terms of quality, time, and cost to ensure optimal project progress.
WIKA's President Director, Agung Budi Waskito (BW), stated that WIKA is committed to completing this project professionally. "WIKA continues to accelerate work and coordinate intensively with all stakeholders so that the Serang-Panimbang Toll Road project can be completed according to the planned target," said Agung BW.
In the construction of the Serang-Panimbang Toll Road, WIKA also implemented various construction innovations, including optimized work methods, efficient structural design, the use of high-quality materials, and the use of modern construction technology. These innovations contribute to increased project efficiency, resulting in more precise, strong, and durable construction, while extending the toll road's service life, reducing the need for long-term maintenance.
From a sustainability perspective, WIKA strictly implements Occupational Safety and Health (K3) standards throughout all stages of the project. Furthermore, environmental management is implemented through construction impact control, waste management, and protection of sensitive areas surrounding the project, demonstrating the application of sustainable development principles.
