PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) together with PT Wijaya Karya Bangunan Gedung Tbk (WEGE) and other state-owned enterprises are once again supporting post-disaster recovery through the construction of temporary housing (Huntara) for residents affected by floods and landslides in Aceh Tamiang. This involvement is part of the Danantara programme, BP BUMN, and the Ministry of Public Works (PU), which focuses on meeting the basic needs of communities affected by disasters.
In this programme, WIKA and WEGE are building 80 Huntara units located on Jalan Banda Aceh–Medan, Kebun Tanjung Seumantoh, Karang Baru District, Aceh Tamiang. The construction of Huntara is intended to ensure that affected residents have safe and decent temporary shelter during the recovery period.
The construction was carried out through a collaboration between WIKA and WEGE using a modular building system. This method was chosen to support accelerated construction while still prioritising quality, efficiency, and timeliness.
“Through the collaboration between WIKA and WEGE, we are providing modular Huntara that are built quickly, safely, and strongly, so that they can be immediately utilised by the affected communities as comfortable and decent places to live,” said Agung Budi Waskito (BW), President Director of WIKA.
The Huntara is designed using a strong and durable lightweight steel frame, with supporting materials such as cement boards, multiplex flooring, and zincalume roofing, to ensure the safety and comfort of its occupants. In addition to the housing units, WIKA and WEGE have also prepared various supporting facilities, including a communal kitchen, laundry area, prayer room, and adequate sanitation facilities, to meet the basic needs of the residents.
Through the construction of Huntara, WIKA and WEGE are not only supporting the provision of comfortable and decent housing and access to basic infrastructure, but also contributing to accelerating the recovery of social life in Aceh Tamiang after the disaster.
