PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk or WIKA's commitment to strengthening the implementation of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles has once again received national recognition. WIKA won the Leadership A – Advancing ESG Transparency Leadership award at the Indonesia ESG Leadership Awards 2025 held by the Bumi Global Karbon (BGK) Foundation at Soehanna Hall, The Energy Building, SCBD Jakarta. This award affirms WIKA's position as one of the construction industry players that consistently improves transparency, accountability, and the quality of sustainable governance. The BGK Foundation conducted an independent assessment based on 33 ESG factors, covering environmental, social, and governance aspects, and recognized 64 companies that were deemed to have demonstrated excellent performance in ESG practices and reporting.
WIKA's President Director, Agung BW, stated that this recognition serves as a driving force for the company to continue strengthening ESG integration across all business processes.
“Transparency and accountability are not just commitments, but part of WIKA's long-term strategy in creating sustainable value for all stakeholders,” he said in an official statement.
In line with this, WIKA continues to expand ESG implementation to the project level through the 5 Flagship Programs of the President Director of ESG Implementation at WIKA, which include the use of modular construction, tree replanting, prohibition of logging outside construction areas, use of electric motors, and use of photovoltaic (PV) as a renewable energy source. These programs strengthen energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and ensure greener and more standardized working methods across the WIKA Group.
WIKA is also compiling emissions baselines across all projects to build a more comprehensive greenhouse gas inventory. This data forms the foundation for formulating emission reduction pathways and developing a portfolio of energy efficiency and clean energy transition initiatives, which are reinforced through the updating of the Decarbonization Roadmap to align with the global net-zero emission target for 2050 and the national NZE 2060 agenda. This step is a strategic foundation for WIKA in strengthening climate resilience while capitalizing on green business opportunities.
The strengthening of the commitment to sustainability is also manifested through the issuance of three new corporate policies: Sustainability Policy, Human Rights Policy, and Biodiversity and Land Restoration Policy. These three policies serve as formal guidelines that ensure all business activities take into account environmental impacts, respect the rights of workers and communities, and preserve ecosystems through risk identification, the application of a mitigation hierarchy, and the gradual and measured restoration of land and habitats. All policies are applied group-wide and reviewed periodically to ensure their effectiveness.
As a medium-term strategic direction, WIKA has prepared the 2024–2028 ESG Grand Roadmap, which divides the company's sustainability journey into five stages, starting from strengthening governance, developing a more mature ESG ecosystem, to achieving a position as a national benchmark by 2028. In the ongoing Move phase (2025), WIKA is focusing on strengthening ESG targets across all divisions, refining the decarbonization roadmap, sharpening energy, water, and waste baselining, integrating climate risk into corporate risk management, and increasing transparency through the development of an ESG dashboard that refers to the latest reporting standards, including TCFD.
With this achievement, WIKA reaffirms its commitment as a national construction and EPC company that not only produces infrastructure works but also maintains a balance between economic development, environmental protection, and social sustainability. The Leadership A award serves as momentum for WIKA to continue strengthening its contribution in promoting the transition to a green, inclusive, and resilient economy, in line with the national development agenda.
