PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) has once again secured a new contract through the SKG Belawan – Labuhan Batu Station Gas Transmission Pipeline Construction project with a contract value of IDR 1.87 trillion. WIKA has been entrusted by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) to support the government's downstream program while contributing to the Asta Cita energy self-sufficiency program, which emphasizes national energy independence and security through the strengthening of energy infrastructure based on domestic resources.
This project is part of the National Strategic Project (PSN) in the energy sector as stated in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 109 of 2020, which contains a list of national strategic projects including the development of energy and natural gas infrastructure as the foundation for meeting domestic energy needs in a sustainable manner.
The scope of the project includes Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning (EPCC) work for the construction of a ±279.8-kilometer gas transmission pipeline connecting the Belawan Gas Compressor Station (SKG) to the Labuhan Batu Station in the Sumatra region, in order to strengthen the reliability of the national gas distribution network.
The scope of WIKA's work includes the preparation phase, technical surveys and investigations, detailed engineering design (DED), procurement and construction of gas facilities, compressor systems, transmission pipeline networks, pig launcher and pig receiver facilities, gas metering systems, corrosion control (ICCP), as well as the pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up phases.
The President Director of WIKA stated that winning this contract further strengthens WIKA's position as a leading EPCC and green contractor in Indonesia, particularly in the development of large-scale and strategic energy infrastructure.
“The trust placed in WIKA for this PSN project is proof of the Company's capability in managing complex energy projects, while also supporting the Asta Cita energy self-sufficiency, energy transition, and national energy independence goals,” said Agung BW.
With this new contract, WIKA is optimistic that it can strengthen its portfolio of national strategic projects, increase its contribution to energy security, and support the Company's future recovery efforts.
