The Asbuton mining business has been started since the Dutch colonial era on October 21, 1924, while granting Asbuton mining concessions for 30 years to a Dutch businessman named A. Volker. PT Sarana Karya transformed into State Owned Enterprise Company since January 30, 1984, based on Government Regulation No. 3 of 1984.
Based on the Indonesian Government Regulation Number 91 Year 2013, dated December 24, 2013, entire shares of PT Sarana Karya (Persero) sold to PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk. Since June 30, 2014 PT Sarana Karya changed its name become PT Wijaya Karya Bitumen. Composition of PT Wijaya Karya Bitumen or PT WIKA Bitumen: PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk: 99% and PT Wijaya Karya Bangunan: 1%.
The company will be developed to enter Asbuton processing industry, into high value-added bitumen products that can be used as material for roads and other supporting material industry.
Development program of Asbuton Product processing industry will be produced become Asbuton Extraction by quality products and high added value products that consists of:
- Raw Materials;
- Asbuton Granular;
- Asbuton Extraction.
