The construction of the Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) Plant Rorotan Project in North Jakarta, which is being carried out by WIKA-JAKON (KSO), has officially begun, marked by a groundbreaking ceremony that took place on Monday (13/5).
The groundbreaking of the RDF Rorotan project was attended by the Acting Governor of Jakarta, Heru Budi Hartono, along with the Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Environmental Service, Asep Kuswanto, Director of Operations I WIKA, Hananto Aji, and Director of Operations II WIKA, Harum Akhmad Zuhdi.
In his speech, the Acting Governor of Jakarta, Heru Budi Hartono, said that the construction of RDF Rorotan was carried out after successfully building RDF Bantargebang. The RDF Plant Rorotan, as the largest in the North Jakarta area, is one of the regional government's programs in an effort to make Jakarta a waste-free city.
"The RDF Plant Rorotan is targeted to operate in early 2025 and is capable of serving 16 sub-districts in Jakarta, including North Jakarta, Central Jakarta, and East Jakarta," said Heru.
In this project, WIKA holds a portion of 60% of the total value, reaching Rp 1.15 Trillion. In the EPCC scope, the largest work includes procurement for the provision of waste treatment system technology as well as civil works including piling and waste management building construction.
The existence of this plant with RDF technology has the function of processing inorganic waste into alternative fuel that will produce electricity or heat with low carbon emissions. With a waste processing capacity of 2,500 tons/day, RDF Rorotan is capable of reducing 30% of the total waste that will be sent to Bantargebang into 5x5 cm RDF Ballers as much as 875 tons/day. This makes RDF Rorotan the largest waste treatment project in Indonesia.
