he Sentiong - Ancol Pumping Station Development Project was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo in Jakarta, Monday (11/12). The inauguration was also witnessed by Minister of PUPR, Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency Hadi Tjahjanto, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Deputy Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara, Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono, President Director of WIKA Agung Budi Waskito and Director of Operations I WIKA Hananto Aji.
The Sentiong - Ancol Pumping Station Development Project was built as an effort by the Ministry of PUPR to reduce the risk of flooding that often inundates a number of sub-districts in Jakarta by pumping water from the Kali Sentiong when its elevation is high and flowing it back into Jakarta Bay.
President Joko Widodo hopes that with the completion of the construction of the Sentiong Ancol Pumping Station in the downstream area, supported by the completion of construction in the upstream and middle sections, this can reduce flooding in DKI Jakarta by approximately 62%.
The Sentiong Ancol Pumping Station project owned by PUPR was built in two stages, the first package was worked on by the Joint Operation (KSO) of PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (WIKA) - PT Jaya Konstruksi and the follow-up package was worked on by WIKA.

The presence of the Sentiong Ancol Pumping Station with a capacity of 50,000 liters/second has also set a MURI record as the Construction of a Pumping Station with the Largest Capacity.
The Sentiong Ancol Pumping Station has a service area/catchment area of approximately 2500 Ha and can reduce the flooded area by approximately 879 Ha
"This is the largest pumping station in Indonesia. We hope that this pumping station can reduce flooding in 7 sub-districts in DKI Jakarta," said President Jokowi
The MURI Award was presented by MURI to Director of Operations I WIKA Hananto Aji.
President Director of WIKA, Agung Budi Waskito (BW), said that the completion of the construction of the Sentiong - Ancol Pumping Station shows WIKA's commitment to answering the trust given by the Ministry of PUPR and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to WIKA to be involved in the construction of flood control infrastructure in the capital.
"Our portfolio is spread from upstream to downstream, starting from the Sukamahi Dam, then in the middle section WIKA has also completed the Ciliwung Bypass - East Flood Canal project and today, we have completed the construction of the Sentiong - Ancol Pumping Station. This shows WIKA's presence that is oriented towards the benefits of the wider community," said Agung BW.
